Easy pizza recipe without yeast

What I love about this Greek yogurt pizza dough is that it doesn't require yeast. Instead it has just two main ingredients: flour and Greek yogurt!

Easy Greek Yogurt Pizza Dough Recipe without Yeast (2)

Ingredients

Theoretically you can put together a yeast-free pizza recipe with just yogurt and flour. But if we do something, we do it well! That's why my Greek yogurt pizza recipe goes the extra mile and makes a tastier dough.

Here's all you need to make this easy pizza recipe without yeast.

  • All-purposes flour
  • Greek yogurt
  • Baking powder
  • Olive oil
  • Sea salt

Greek yogurt isn't Greek style yogurt!

When I say "Greek yogurt", I mean Greek yogurt. Don't confuse it with Greek style yogurt.

The main difference between the two is that Greek yogurt has a firm, thick texture whereas Greek style yogurt comes with a more runny texture. Using the second would literally screw up your dough - it'd get sticky and you would need a way too much flour to fix it.

So keep this in mind! Use a firm yogurt and your yeast-free pizza dough recipe will come out as expected.

Substitutes

Are you missing something? No problem. Keep on reading and you are going to learn how to replace all recipe ingredients.

  • All-purposes flour: replace with spelt flour or wholewheat flour. This recipe does not work well with oat flour or almond flour.
  • Greek yogurt: replace with Skyr or quark. Also dairy-free, as long as it has a thick and firm texture (no runny yogurt here!).
  • Baking powder: skip if you don't have it. The crust will come out anyway, but it will stay pretty flat.
  • Olive oil: replace with your favorite oil (avocado, walnut, pumpkin seed oil) or leave out. I personally recommend adding the oil, it brings the pizza to another dimension.
  • Sea salt: use your favorite type of salt or skip (not recommended).

Topping ideas

Call me boring, but Margherita is my favorite pizza. I genuinely love the simplicity of tomatoes and mozzarella over a tasty pizza crust.

But if you are looking for more, here are some great topping ideas for you!

  • Peperoni
  • Grilled chicken
  • Tuna fish
  • Corn
  • Sliced onions
  • Grilled peppers
  • Grilled veggies
  • A combination of the above
  • Literally anything you crave!

Dairy-free yogurt pizza dough

If you follow a vegan or dairy-free diet, I have good news for you! This Greek Yogurt pizza dough recipe can easily be adapted to your needs.

Putting together a dairy-free pizza crust is as simple as replacing dairy Greek yogurt with dairy-free Greek yogurt alternatives. My recommendations here are soy Skyr, soy Greek yogurt or any firm yogurt. What matters is that the dairy-free yogurt used has a firm and thick texture.
