Being best friends with Taylor Swift — and an A-list actor to boot! — means you are probably used to a bit of media attention when you go out. So it’s no surprise that people were obsessed when Blake Lively attended the Super Bowl earlier this month to support Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs. The mom of four posted about her the experience on Instagram yesterday (a few weeks late, because #MomLife), and it was so relatable.

“Last week I left my kids for the first time ever and wore pants that were shoes,” the Gossip Girl alum wrote on Instagram. She shares James, 9, Inez, 7, Betty, 4, and a baby born in Feb. 2023 with husband Ryan Reynolds, and while it’s definitely not the first time she’s left her kids, I’m sure it felt like it! Taking care of four kids, including a newborn baby, is no easy task, so getting a chance to dress up, leave the house, and hang out with a friend without having to work probably felt like a dream!
During the night out, Lively wore a white sports bra and a red-and-white tracksuit jacket and pants from the Adidas x Balenciaga collection, which ended in shoes instead of a hem. But wearing “pants that were shoes” wasn’t the only silly thing Lively did.

“I took pictures upside down and had no clue,” she continued, sharing an example of the upside-down stadium in her photo carousel. “I treated a friendship bracelet like a Flat Stanley for my husband like I didn’t realize it wasn’t ‘07. I borrowed more jewelry than the skeleton in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. And I went clubbing.”
She added, “Now I know what my episode of the Twilight Zone would look like. 💥🙌😆♥️🥰”
In her post, Lively shared photos of her blingy accessories, including a friendship bracelet with half of Deadpool’s face and half of Wolverine’s face from the upcoming Deadpool 3 movie poster. In an Instagram story, she wrote, “Turns out you’re not supposed to wear BOTH halves of the friendship necklace yourself. Who knew the middle school days were damaging after all.”
Hey, the most important thing is, she had fun! Who can blame her for making a few flubs when she’s probably just delirious from her hours of freedom without having to “mom” for a while? Not to mention, even Taylor Swift makes mistakes — after all, she accidentally took her parents clubbing!
Moms praised Lively’s candid post in the comments section. “Every mom should have the opportunity to do that with their best friends❤️,” one person wrote. Another person said, “mother is still mothering even though her kids aren’t there.”

The A Simple Favor star gets her love of jewelry (and her beauty) from her mom Elaine Lively. In December, she shared a photo of her and her mom decked out in Tiffany’s.
“I would like to replace the term ‘hoarder’ in favor of ‘maximalist,’” she joked. “It makes me feel better. Wonder where I get it from…”
She explained how the picture went down in the caption. “Me: mom come take a pic for Tiffany with me. Which necklace do you want to wear? Mom: All of them. Me: no. pick your favorite. Mom: ALL of them. Turn on The Makeup Light.”

Lively clearly follows in her mom’s example, like when she shared a picture of herself in a shimmering gold Michael Kors jumpsuit.

And even though she looks stunning, her open insecurity, that many moms feel after giving birth, felt so relatable to people. One person praised, “Blake’s so real for that … cuz … nobody has a perfect body after giving birth and I like it that she speaks about it and not like the others trying to photoshop everything.”
